Charlie’s report from Abbotsford

It was so lovely seeing and being with family and having a bit of a normal routine, actually being in a proper car not in the van, having space and not being in the tiny van, and being in proper beds, I loved having space really.

The first night that we were at Barbs and Norb’s Jake, Trish, Emily and David came over for dinner. That’s when we witnessed Barb’s amazing cooking for the first time in a year. As soon as we got there Barb gave us loads of lemon buns and cinnamon buns which she baked for us (also the cookies and the muffins which filled up the freezer).

We helped on the farm, for example doing the corn, the eggs (I did it twice once with Jake for about half an hour and I did with Thomas for an hour and a half). We dug holes where the cows were, where we were digging the cows were there so Norb made them go to a different field.

One of the best things about being at their house was Norb’s family, Nancy, Brian, Erin, Hannah and Al and Marlene. We made quite good friends with them all. We went to Al and Marlene’s house for dinner and had ribs, also me and Will played on the xbox and went in the hot tub. We went to Nancy’s house twice, once just for lunch and once for a leaving party.

We went salmon fishing two Sundays in a row. The first time Nancy and the girls came, Emily and David and obviously Barb and Norb came. The second time we came with all of Nancy’s family, Beth and Dan and Marlene.

Will and I went to the skatepark nearly every day that we were there. We also did three skate lessons where we learnt loads. Our teacher was really cool and really good at skateboarding he taught us some really cool stuff.

I felt so sad leaving everyone behind and knowing that we won’t see them for ages but I know I have friends forever at Abbotsford. I hope you all come and see us in England or we come to you soon.
